We grow French tarragon, the classic culinary herb - a sprawling creeper. French tarragon is propagated only by division; seeds are available for a different and less flavorful Russian variety.
We prepare it in half-ounce bunches. What's "transitional" mean on the label? Since this quality of tarragon cannot be reproduced from seed, we searched for an organic -nursery source for divisions, and found none. So we bought three commercially-produced starts of it as the foundation of the patch pictured above. Cuttings from these starts can't be called "organic" until we have managed the plants organically for a year. The label will say "organic" in May of 2010.
