Old Ways Farm now offers products that are certified organic, by Organic Certifiers of Ventura, California.  Our Big-Island-based inspector came to visit in August; the certification process was completed October 15, 2010.

Until now, we have been operating on a small-farmer exemption, but we've outgrown that.  So for the past year we've been tightening up and automating our recordkeeping and preparing about 50 pages of application materials. 

A few things we grow are not organic, either because they're grown close to our non-organic neighbors (coffee, bananas), or because they're from nursery stock that has been on the farm less than a year (curryleaf).
